Passing through the Strait of Gibraltar

I had always dreamed of crossing the Strait of Gibraltar. It’s the narrowest point between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, and it’s been a major shipping route for centuries. I was finally going to get my chance to see it for myself.

I was on a transatlantic cruise on the Carnival Pride that was sailing from Tampa, Florida to Barcelona, Spain.

The Strait of Gibraltar is about 8 miles wide at its narrowest point. Unfortunately, it was almost midnight and dark. I could see the city of Tangier in the distance.

We will visit this region again very soon.
