Looming 2,600 feet (800 meters above sea level, Pico do Carvão Viewpoint (Miradouro do Pico do Carvão offers panoramic views of Sao Miguel, the largest island in the Azores archipelago. From the lookout point, you can see volcanic cones, lakes, and the Atlantic Ocean.
Fantastic overlook with a few parking spaces. The sun was super bright directly in our eyes, but we were glad because the forecast was for rain. This church was built in 1857 and is located next to the visitor center in the village Sete Cidades next to the crater lake. Beautiful church that included a stone baptismal. Take a close look at the twisted trunk of the tree behind us.

Stunning visit to Muro das Nove Janelas (Nine Windows Wall) which is part of an old stone aqueduct Aqueduto do Carvão (Coal Aqueduct) located close to Mata do Canário (Canary Forest). This aqueduct was built in the 17th-18th centuries in order to supply water from several lakes of the Sete Cidades area to the city of Ponta Delgada

On day 8 of our Transatlantic cruise. We rented a car and happened to see this mill from a distance and it was well worth a visit. Entrance was free. We are told that actually makes flour every year in September for the local festival. Unfortunately it was closed to go up inside, but others have gone in the past.
