We continue our Los Angeles to Seattle on the first leg to the ocean, Ventura California.
I had always dreamed of crossing the Strait of Gibraltar. It’s the narrowest point between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, and it’s been a major shipping route for centuries. I was finally going to get my chance to see it for myself. I was on a transatlantic cruise on the Carnival Pride that was sailing from Tampa, Florida to Barcelona...

We loved this stop. An interesting cliff formation known as “Tromba do Elefante” (Elephant’s Trumpet). Best viewed from Miradouro das Pedras Negras outlook. It appears as though the creature is about to set foot into the sea, lead by its enormous trunk.
The sound the waves make crashing here was amazing. A deep thunder.
This is another wonderful view from Miradouro da Ponta do Escalvado on Sao Miguel. The best part about this one, is you get two spectacular views. Looks one way and you’ll see Mosteiros. Look the other way and you’ll see Ponta da Ferraria. We were coming from Sete Cidades. This is a must stop. We continued east, on to Mosteiros DCIM\100GOPRO\GOPR7194.JPG...
